BOE FundingAside from annual budget line items, potential funds for music technology may be hidden in the IT department, textbook replacement, and equipment budgets. If building a new school, music technology should be included in the capital outlay for the school.
Grant WritingThe cardinal rule of grant writing is to find the imperative--the one thing about your project that any reasonable person would agree with.

FoundationsPTAs, local education foundations and corporations like Target sponsor grants to schools for innovative programs. NAMM, Fender, the Grammy Foundation, and companies like Ableton provide funding as well as free equipment and software to schools.
CrowdsourcingMany schools have great success stories with crowdfunding. "Buy a Key" and "Buy a Note" programs have funded everything from electronic keyboards to mixing boards. Sometimes, private donors come forward and make dreams come true.
